5 Major Benefits of Hosting a Company Holiday Party Off-Site

The holiday season is a perfect time for companies to show appreciation for their employees and celebrate the year’s achievements. However, should the party take place on or off-site? Here are five major benefits of hosting a company holiday party off-site.

1- Separation Between Work and Party

The office may have what it needs to create a positive working environment, but it may not be the place to host a holiday party. It is hard to relax when you are tripping over equipment and wires. Plus, there is something about getting out of the office and dressing up to make an occasion feel special. Team members will not have to worry about spilling drinks or dropping food on desks and office equipment. When the party is at the office, ringing phones, emails, and customers are constant interruptions. For a festive occasion, team members should only focus on having fun.

2- Team Bonding

There is something to socializing outside of the office. It is a less stressful situation. Renting a location to hold an off-site holiday party allows coworkers to bond and get to know one another on a more personal level.

For large companies, an off-site holiday party allows departments that do not have personal contact with each other to mingle. For example, you talk to Sally in accounting several times a day but have not met her. Now, you can put a face to the name. The connections and bonds made at the party will only make for a better working environment when everyone is in the office.

3- Memorable Experience

Whether it’s a resort or a local restaurant, having a party at a venue will create a memorable experience. The lights, decor, and music will make for an enjoyable atmosphere. People will enjoy taking out their phones and snapping a few pictures. The photos may or may not be Instagram-worthy, but team members will create lasting memories. Consider a holiday photo booth for even more fun. Collect some pictures for the company’s newsletter or social media channels. They will serve as a reminder of all the fun everyone had.

4- Venues Have More Room

Offices do not usually come with unused space. Planning a party at a venue makes more sense. It is hard to hang garlands and put up a holiday tree with computers and filing cabinets in the way. Venues have space for people to move around and mingle; they are easier to decorate. Some even come with dance floors and outside spaces for people to enjoy. Also, if a gift exchange is involved, it allows more room for people to open and enjoy their presents.

5- Creativity is Fun Too

Having an off-site allows companies to get creative with the type of party. Instead of ordering food and drinks delivered to the office, think out of the box. There is nothing wrong with the traditional banquet holiday party either; however, what if your team members would prefer something less formal? Consider other fun options like going to an escape room, karaoke bar, or bowling. The whole point of the party is to get out of the office, relax, and bond while being appreciated for all the hard work done over the year.
